Applied Music and the University of the Highlands and Islands – a 10 year journey

It is 10 years since the BA (Hons) Applied Music degree was introduced to the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2011, closely followed by the development of the progression programme – the MA Music and the Environment. The event will consist of an information sharing presentation followed by discussion with staff, graduates, current students and guests.  It is open to all those interested in finding out more and how you might wish to get involved in the future.

This flagship practical music degree for the creative industries, is pioneering within the UK, and the curriculum has earned international recognition for its quality, with focus on collaboration and connecting communities across Scotland and the rest of the world.

As well as producing some of Scotland’s top performers and educators, for three consecutive years this innovative programme has achieved 100% scores in the National Student Survey, highlighting the value students place on a curriculum which has developed strong community and engagement with industry and professional opportunity.

This event is aimed at industry partners, professional music practitioner networks, music departments in schools and colleges, existing contacts and those new to the university, who are interested in the BA (Hons) Applied Music and the MA Music and the Environment programmes.

Your camera and microphone will be disabled throughout the event but you will have the option to ask questions through the chat function or raise your hand and if you prefer then have your camera and microphone enabled.

Please be aware that the event will be recorded and may be made available to the public on our website and through our YouTube channel. If you choose to share your name when you join this information may be captured as part of the recording. You can avoid your personal data being recorded by writing ‘guest’ in place of your name when prompted to enter your name. Your video feed/audio feed will be off throughout the event unless you ask a question in person rather that through the chat function.
