Big Song Relay > A Grand Day Out in Dunblane

A Grand Day Out in Dunblane

20140409-110342.jpgWe had a great day on Saturday at the Victoria Halls in Dunblane. Choir Leaders from all round Scotland came to learn our new Big Song Relay song Here’s to All Our Common Wealth from choir leader Alison Burns.

We started off the day with some vocal warmups – a favourite of mine was Tarzan and Jane (make of that what you will…) and then we headed into learning the song. We covered all the different parts (SATB) and finished with a rousing version of the song. Katherine from our partners the Big Big Sing chatted about their part of the project and then it was time for lunch!

20140409-110446.jpgThere was a great selection of soup, salad and cake which was devoured by all. It was also a great time to meet everyone properly and discuss issues relevant to the Big Song Relay.

After lunch we learnt the song in Gaelic from Maeve Mackinnon who had spent time writing out the song phonetically. It was then time for more tea and we finished off with a Q&A section. All in all a lovely day in a lovely hall bursting with song.

The Big Song Relay is part of the Big Big Sing which is a nationwide celebration of singing produced by Glasgow UNESCO City of Music. It’s aim is to inspire thousands of people to sign up and get singing in the lead up to and during Games Time.
