Acclaimed Scottish artist Josie Duncan is set to release her newest single The Wee Hours (the magical time between midnight and morning) on 13th June, created as part of the enchanting short film ‘Faithful’ from Silly Wee Films. The track, which Duncan describes as a deeply personal creation into which she “poured her whole heart,” complements the film’s exploration of Scottish folklore, magic and grief. Recorded at the renowned Blackbay studio on the Isle of Lewis last year, the single promises to deliver Duncan’s characteristic emotional depth and musical craftsmanship.
‘Faithful’, directed by Lucy Linger, draws on the ancient Scottish legend of the Cù-Sìth—a mythical Grim Reaper Fairy Dog said to escort souls to The Otherworld after three blood-curdling howls. The film follows 14-year-old Vaila’s midnight quest to find this supernatural hound in hopes of reaching The Otherworld to rescue her mother and reunite her broken family. The film will be available on STV Player, bringing this unique blend of Scottish folklore and contemporary storytelling to audiences across the country.
