The Clasping Sea by Alistair Ogilvy

AO-album-front-1This is a song called ‘The Clasping Sea’ taken from Alistai Ogilvy’s new album ‘July Moon’ Releasing 4th of May.

Recorded at Chem19, the album was produced by Louis Abbott ( Admial Fallow )
This track features special guest Karen Matheson (Capercaillie) it also features Alistair’s core Kieran Heather on electric guitar and Kristan Havey on Fiddle.

The current band line up consists of Alistair on vocals/harmonium/keys, Kristan Harvey on fiddle and Kieran Heather on guitar. Kristan is an award winning Orkadian musician, and recent member of the famous Blazin Fiddles. Kieran is a multi -instrumentalist, and a member of the the band Washington Irving. With these amazing musicians the sound created is refreshing, drawing from folk-rock/jazz/acoustic and ambient genres, with inspiration coming from an array of different musicians from Nick Drake, Kate Bush to Fairport Convention.

Alistair’s singing has lead him to be invited to collaborate on stage with established musicians such as Karen Matheson, Craig Armstrong and Jerry Burns. Over the last year he has supported Tiny Ruins, Alice Boman, and Jo Mango amongst others.

His recently recorded second album is due to be released in the spring of 2015, under the record label ‘JULY MOON RECORDS’. Alistair has collaborated with talented friends to be involved with his creative process. The cast is a stellar one which hopefully proves the worth of this new recording.

Louis Abbott lead singer from Admiral Fallow produced the album and layed percussion, Jamie Savage, part of the Chem 19 empire, was the engineer and Kenny Macleod mastered the final product. Craig Armstrong, world renowned film composer arranged the strings on the opening track, Deep Blue Sea.
