John Paul Jones was a Scottish born mariner who fought for the Americans in the Revolutionary War and later became an Admiral in the Russian Navy.
On this journey John Paul Jones Sails with his ship the Bonhomme Richard around the British Isles. He makes a failed attempt to burn the port of Leith and engages in a battle with a flotilla of merchant ships, escorted by a squadron of navy ships, lead by a well armoured ship called the Serapis near Flamborough Head, on the Yorkshire Coast on the 23rd Sept 1779, resulting in the Serapis being taken and Jones’s ship being sunk. Jones was portrayed in the tabloids as a evil thwarted pirate but was hailed as a hero in Holland, where he escaped to with the Serapis, in France and in America.
Alan Reid and Rob van Sante joined forces in 2001 whilst working with Scotland’s finest Folk Group Battlefield Band, Alan underpinning the backbone of the band’s material whilst Rob took care of the sound.
After leaving the group in 2010 Alan and Rob have toured worldwide enchanting audiences in Germany, Holland, Italy, America, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
The duo is well known for their strong material, their virtuoso musicianship and their warm and intimate approach towards their audiences.
