The First Sangs, Iona’s first EP consists of four traditional Scots songs and provides modern, unique interpretation of songs which are around 200 years old. The First Sangs was released in early 2015 and was recorded live at the Radio 2 Young Folk Weekend at the Brewery Arts Center, Kendal at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at Celtic Connections.
The First Sangs will be released on Itunes and various other online retailers on 1st March.
At the age of seventeen, folk singer, Iona Fyfe has performed extensively across Scotland singing traditional Scots ballads with accompaniment of piano. Growing up in Huntly, surrounded by a wealth of musical and historical culture, Iona began performing Doric recitation and ballad singing at the age of five and since then has competed and performed at a range of festivals such as Traditional Music and Song Association Festivals in Aberdeen, Kirriemuir and Keith as well as The Perthshire Amber Festival and Celtic Connections. Her knowledge about song backgrounds provides an engaging, enthralling set list which delves into Scotland’s folklore, stories and history.
In 2015 Iona became a BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Semi-Finalist
