Battle of the Folk Bands 2018: Suas

Suas have reached the finals of Battle of The Folk Bands 2018. The competition will be held at TradFest on May 6th 2018 in Edinburgh. Why not come along and join in the fun? You can buy tickets here. Read about all the finalists here.

We asked Robbie of Suas a few questions about the band.

Tell us about your band

Suas are a Glasgow based band who learned their craft in different areas of Scotland, and use these disparate influences to create uplifting music inspired by their individual places and cultures.

Glasgow’s Irish scene is very much represented in the final product, in equal measure with the Highland culture of the North West and everything in between.

Who are the band members
Sarah Markey – Flute/Vocals
Jack McRobbie – Guitar
Robbie Greig – Fiddle
(Luc McNally – Bouzouki/Vocals, but Luc can’t make this event)

What are you hopes and aspirations for the band?
We hope to play at as many festivals and gigs as possible over the coming years, and would like at some point to make an album.

Check out the band’s website.

Battle of The Folk Bands is a Hands Up for Trad project. Read about the organisation and join our weekly Scottish music information email here.
