A residential Scottish and traditional music event for participants aged 11 (entering high school) to 17, held at Wiston Lodge.

We can’t wait to welcome young musicians back to Wiston Lodge in South Lanarkshire for a week of folk and traditional music, song, fun and campfire singing. This year’s event runs from Monday 5th to Friday 9th July 2027, and all instruments and levels of ability are welcome.

Your 2027 tutors:
Heather Carthwright (song / songwriting)
Miguel Girāo (guitar)
Rae MacIver (piano)
Laura Penman (clarsach)
Anna Robertson (fiddle)

Participants enjoy a fully residential experience in a spectacular Victorian hunting lodge in rural Scotland, with experienced house staff on hand at all times and song and instrumental tuition from some of Scotland’s finest musicians.

If you don’t play one of the instruments above, you’re still very welcome: join in the ensemble classes, which are great fun.

Tickets for the week are £500 (all accommodation and meals). Extra family members are £400, and we offer concessionary places at £225. Paying in instalments is an option too. If you’d like to give a Tinto Summer School place as a present and make a down payment, select “Pay at the Door” at checkout and we’ll email you about next steps and a payment schedule.

Each place actually costs £700, and Hands Up for Trad subsidises the difference from our own funds. If you’d like to sponsor a place or donate for a young person, you can do so using the “donation” option.
