Mealibh ur naidheachd to everyone involved in Seachdain na Gàidhlig, which has been named winner of the Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival award at the Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards 2026.
The winners were announced at a ceremony and dinner at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on Friday 9th October. The awards celebrate the best of tourism and hospitality across the Highlands and Islands, recognising the excellence, innovation and passion that make the region such a special place to visit. Seachdain na Gàidhlig, also known as World Gaelic Week, was recognised for the part it plays in sharing Gaelic language and culture with audiences at home and around the world.
Seachdain na Gàidhlig is a Hands Up for Trad project, and this win belongs to everyone who makes it happen: the team, the partners, the performers, the venues and the communities who take part every year.
There’s more to come. All category winners, except the Highland Ambassador, now go forward as finalists at the Scottish Thistle Awards National Final in November 2026. We’ll be cheering Seachdain na Gàidhlig on, and we’ll share news as soon as we have it.
Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2027 takes place from 22nd to 28th February. Find out more at https://seachdainnagaidhlig.scot
Congratulations too to all of this year’s winners, and thank you to the Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards for the recognition. You can see the full list of winners on the HITA website.
