Scots Language Week is a split-new national annual celebration o the Scots leid, fundit bi the Rubric Foundation an brocht tae ye bi Hands Up for Trad pairtnerin thegither wi Scots Hoose Yaldi. Rinnin frae 6 September 2027 an tied tae the partiklar date o 9 September – the date o the Battle of Flodden (1513), the daith of Hugh MacDiarmid (1978), an the 80th anniversary o Violet Jacob’s daith, the Scots Language Week 2027 will bring thegither eddication, community engagemint, an cultur.

The week wull hae three core threids:

1.     A free Scots leid eddication resource pack gied oot tae primary schules aa ower Scotland, developit in pairtnership with Scots Hoose Yaldi.

2.     A national wabcast on 9 September for secondary schules connectin the Battle o Flodden, Hugh MacDiarmid, Violet Jacobs.

3.     The Scots Language Awards on Setturday 11 September – a national ceremonie celebratin excellence in Scots ower the fields o literatur, musick, drama, eddication, an community life.

Alangside o thae, the Wee Grants for Creativity programme wull fund grassroots Scots leid projects in communities aa ower Scotland, wi recipients gied a platform throu the week. As weel as the fundit programme, we wull gie encouragmint tae a hale range o community wirk that haes Scots leid at its hert, tae help mak it happen.

Purpose o the Role

The Administrative Producer haes a key pairt in deliverin Scots Language Week. Wirkin unner the direction o Hands Up for Trad, you wull project manage aa the threids o the week, coordinatin wi oor stakehauders, an provide the administrative backbane that alloos a braw national event tae be deliverit on time an tae a high standart.

Bein able tae wirk in Scots, baith spikken and scrieven, is essential tae this role. Aa communications wull be in Scots. The Administrative Producer wull be a champion for the Scots leid in aa aspects o the project’s communications an administration.
