Ian McCalman (ancient) and Ellen (younger) stagger 21k for the Alzheimer’s Society

A message from the wonderful Ian McCalman (of the legendary McCalman’s).

What a stupid way to celebrate an 80th birthday.

Hello to our neighbours, friends, relatives and that person we met on the road, old “what’s his name”.

I’m Ian McCalman, ex musician (almost semi-famous last century) and I’ll be 80, just, when I run “The Great North Run” on September 13th alongside my lovely and long-suffering wife, Ellen, for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Unfortunately we have friends and relatives who have suffered from this cruel disease, one of them comparatively young, so we would be sincerely grateful for any donation and support you can give to this amazing charity. ALL contributions go DIRECTLY to Alzheimer’s.

We don’t beg donations for “a fun day in Newcastle”, we ask you to consider a freezing, rainy night in January when two deranged pensioners managed yet another 5k training run.

Thank you so much. You are brilliant!

Ian and Ellen.

P.S. It’s 4 years since “Kevock against cancer” so we think this could be our last “long run” fund-raising effort. Do what you can.
