Reely Jiggered will bring a new FOLK for FOLK FESTIVAL to the Inverclyde area having received funding from Creative Scotland and Enterprise Music Scotland. Alison McNeill has put together a programme of Summer Folk Music Workshops for young people and adults, concerts showcasing the participants of the workshops, a concert featuring BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Robyn Stapleton, Reely Jiggered & David Douglas and a closing Family Ceilidh.
WORKSHOPS for Young People (8 years and above) and Adults:
Post Beginner to Intermediate Workshop Tuesday 22nd – Thursday 24th July (10am-4pm). FOLK for FOLK application & information pack
Intermediate to Advanced Workshop Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd August. (10am- 4pm). FOLK for FOLK application & information pack
Participants, on their chosen instrument (fiddle, guitar, scots & gaelic song, drums, clarsach or pipes/whistles) will attend a 3 day workshop, receive expert sectional and group sessions focusing on Scotland’s Heritage and Culture as well as looking into folk traditions of other countries which make up Scotland’s vibrant Diversity. Each workshop will culminate with a concert on the last day.
Tutors are highly experienced musicians who have performed all over the world. They are skilled teachers seeking to inspire, challenge and have fun whilst catering for all abilities. The Workshops will be lead by Reely Jiggered’s Alison McNeill (Fiddle & Scots Song) & Fiona McNeill (Guitar & Drums). There will also be sessions with BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2014 Robyn Stapleton(Scots/Gaelic Song), David Douglas* (Vocal Coach & Singer/Songwriter) Eleanor Holley** (Clarsach) & Reely Jiggered drummer Scott McLean. *Week 2 only. **Week 1 only
COST: Workshops have been part funded by Enterprise Music Scotland and Creative Scotland and as such we have been able to offer these workshops at excellent value. Adults £60 (excluding lunch)

VENUE
Our venue for all events will be the Royal Gourock Yacht Club, Ashton Road, Gourock which has stunning views across the River Clyde, a perfect location to be inspired and create music. The Royal Gourock Yacht Club is near to Gourock train Station and both the Western and Argyll Ferries. The restaurant will be open for lunch during workshop days and dinner before concerts.
