Feis Dhun Eideann, February 2017

Main Fèis February 2017: This annual event will take place at the wonderful Gaelic School in Bonnington Road Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce during the February holiday week. We will have a Secondary School Workshop Day at 10am-5pm on Saturday 11th February followed by a Family Ceilidh for all at 6.30-8.30pm and a Primary Fèis on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th  (9am-4pm).

Main Fèis (Primary) is a fun packed event of music making, Gaelic singing, dance and arts and crafts for children in p3 to p7. Participants can do 3 different activities over the 2 days, choosing from a wide range including Fiddle, Guitar, Accordion, Chanter/Bagpipes, Whistle, Clàrsach, Percussion, Group Work, Gaelic Singing, Step Dance, Arts & Crafts and Shinty. There is also an opportunity for non-Gaelic speakers to learn a bit of Gaelic through fun activities, and an opportunity for Gaelic speakers to have fun using Gaelic through games and drama. Participants spend 2 hours a day on their first choice activity, and 1 hour each on their 2nd and 3rd choices.
We also have Cleas is Ceòl for the p1-2 age group where the children attend for half days from 1.45pm – 4pm and get the chance to try a few different activities.

The Secondary Group Workshop day on Saturday 11th February (10am-5pm): Open to singers and instrumentalists of Intermediate/Advanced level.  Participants will attend workshops from 10 am to 5pm where they will learn some new tunes for part of the day and work on group arrangements for the rest of the time. We also welcome singers who can learn a new song or two in the morning and work on a group arrangement with some of the instrumentalists in the afternoon. It is hoped some of the groups will perform their pieces at the Family Ceilidh in the evening.
Tutors for this workshop are the wonderful Angus Lyon and Darren MacLean.

This year our Family Ceilidh will take place on Saturday 11th February 6.30-8.30pm. This is always an enjoyable evening where parents can join their children to dance the evening away to music provided by our wonderful group of tutors. It’s a great chance to meet the other families and share a dance and a glass of wine!

Application can be got by emailing below. (Primary and Secondary) We’ve got some great tutors lined up to inspire you all and look forward to seeing you all there. To avoid disappointment get your booking forms in as soon as possible. Closing date January 31st 2017.
