Buain: Gaelic Arts Gathering – Registrations Now Open

Creative Scotland has opened registrations for this year’s Buain Gaelic Arts Gathering, taking place at Talla Chille Mhoire/Kilmuir Community Hall, Skye. The event brings together Gaelic arts practitioners from across the screen, literature, visual arts and music sectors for talks, networking and connection — with Gaelic as the primary language throughout, and a warm welcome for speakers of all levels.

Responding to feedback from previous years, the event has expanded to one and a half days:

Wednesday: 14:00–18:00

Thursday: 11:00–17:00, followed by an evening meal and ceilidh

The full programme will be announced soon.

Bursaries: 15 bursaries of up to £350 are available to support travel, accommodation and caring costs. Applicants must hold a Gaelic fluency level of B1 or above. The closing date for bursary applications is Tuesday 4th August. Apply here.

Travel: A 16-seater minibus will run from Portree for the duration of the event; indicate interest via the registration form.

Access: The venue is wheelchair accessible, including the anteroom and two bathrooms. A breakout space is available via three steps down from the main hall.

For full details, bursary applications and registration, see the Creative Scotland event page. Queries can be directed to gaelicarts@creativescotland.com or events@creativescotland.com.
