We are thrilled to reveal that VisitScotland is returning as a sponsor of the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.
With responsible tourism firmly at the heart of all its activity, the national tourism organisation has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and preserving Scotland’s renowned culture, by recognising the distinct role that the trad music plays in Scotland’s heritage, identity and culture.
In its efforts to inspire visitors to these shores, VisitScotland showcases Scotland’s unique experiences and the many aspects that make the country so special, this includes cultural offerings such as music and Gaelic which can often add an extra layer of authenticity to a visitors’ enjoyment of our country.
VisitScotland’s involvement in the awards is particularly fitting as 2022 marks Scotland’s Year of Stories, a celebrations of the wealth of stories inspired by, written, or created in Scotland.
A key part of the year has been to share how traditional music, Gaelic and Scotland’s other languages are woven into the fabric of the country and have influenced the way we speak and tell stories now.
VisitScotland believes that finding ways to position Scotland as a unique and stand-out holiday choice is vital. The trad music scene, as well as Scotland’s languages, do just that and by having the Scottish tourism industry embrace and showcase them, it helps promote and preserve an important part of Scotland’s culture.
Rob Dickson, VisitScotland Director of Industry and Destination Development, said: “VisitScotland is excited to continue its sponsorship of the Event of the Year category at the 2022 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. This year has brought new challenges to the events and tourism industry, but we’ve had plenty to celebrate with the full return of live shows across the country and the 20th anniversary of these awards. Our outstanding trad music scene offers visitors an extra layer of authenticity during their stay in Scotland – something we know is important to them – and remains a thriving, exhilarating experience embraced by Scots of all ages.”
