As part of the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards we have an Album of the Year category (sponsored by Birnam CD). Musicians added their albums from the last 12 months (September 2015 to August 2016) and then in September 2016 we asked our Album panel (20 musicians / industry people) to listen to all the releases and bring it down to 20. | Any more information you would like to tell us? | This is my debut album, coming a few years after I won the 2016 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. It was released on Rough Trade's new traditional music imprint River Lea. The album was produced by Aidan O'Rourke and recorded by Iain Hutchison in the historic East Church, Cromarty, and features the pioneering 82-year-old singer and piper Rona Lightfoot contributing canntaireachd. |
