32 years after the release of their groundbreaking debut album “Venus In Tweeds” ,
Shooglenifty have reached the watershed moment of releasing their 10th Studio recording.Recorded in Glasgow’s Glo Worm Studios with acclaimed engineer and co producer Andrea Gobbi.
Stamina Island reflects themes of endurance, longevity, exuberance and sheer joie de vivre.
The album’s title,from a tune written by banjo player Ciaran Ryan,is an homage to the Island and people of Eigg, and it’s small but determined community. Almost 30 years ago, and after decades of mismanagement , the community rallied together , and after several months of fundraising, they bought their own Island. The community have since continued to inspire the band, becoming self sufficient in green energy and proving that community ownership can thrive in a decolonised environment,supporting art, nature, tradiotions old and new, and the well being of the whole community..a microcosm for a possible future.

Traditionally we’ve,( apart from one ) always portrayed a feminine figure on our album covers.Perhps they portray our muse,( Venus,possibly) and where she’s led us over the years.
This album’s artwork,entitled “Sea of Tranquility” is by Scottish Artist Ashley Cook.We collaborated with Ashley for our last album cover too,( Acid Croft Vol.9) she likes to confound and subvert stereotypical imagery so we have much in common.
