We asked Tina Rees of Traditional Music Forum the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
The Traditional Music Forum is Scotland’s network of traditional music organisations, bands and individuals. The TMF is a TRACS (Traditional Arts & Culture Scotland) forum.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
The TMF strives to create learning opportunities for the traditional music community and the public at large with a programme of courses and workshops. We provide support for the activities of individual practitioners of all ages and stages, whether amateur, semi-professional, professional, leaner, journeyman or master. The TMF also provides support for professional development including our mentoring programme. We perform regular research projects to address the gaps in knowledge in the traditional music sector including our recent economics survey – Working as a Traditional Musician in Scotland.
Through our website, newsletter and social media channels, we continually showcase the activities of our members and share news, events, and information. The support of the members enables the small staff team to do that effectively. Members matter as members help to shape the thinking, the activities and the hands-on work of the Forum.
