We asked of Tim Matthew the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
i’ve been a freelance sound engineer for over 20 years. I’ve toured the world with a number of bands as engineer, driver, tour manager. I also record and produce both freelance and at Mareel Recording Studio, Shetland.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
I couldn’t imagine not being involved in music. I’ve played all my life and engineering is just an extension of that
Any particular career highlights?
Mixing Lau at Womad in New Zealand was fantastic. Salsa Celtica in Greece where we swam in the sea post-show… Concluding a long Laura Veirs tour at a beach bar in Italy… Now I start thinking about it, most of my career has been a highlight
What are your plans for the future?
I intend to play music and work with music for the rest of my life. In the short term I intend to increase the number of sheep on my croft.
