We asked Craig of The Haggis Chasers Ceilidh Band the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
The Haggis Chasers started out around 20 years ago and became the band it is today after Covid. We're a group of around 10 musicians from Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Central Belt, including some well-known names from the Scottish dance band scene. We're also very good friends away from the music, and we think that comes across when we play.
Any particular career highlights?
• Playing on BBC Radio Scotland's Take the Floor at Celtic Connections, at BBC Pacific Quay
• Playing at Up Helly Aa, the Shetland fire festival
• The after-festival dance for the National Association of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs
• Orkney Folk Festival
• Keith Festival
• Our annual trip to Lisbon to play for St Andrew's Night
• St Andrew's Night for the Caledonian Society of Uganda
What are your plans for the future?
First and foremost, we want to keep playing and enjoying music together as a group of friends, and keep promoting traditional Scottish dance music wherever we go. Alongside that, we'll keep developing and promoting the band, building the Haggis Chasers and we'll see where the future takes us.
