We asked Morag Macdonald about Creative Scotland.
Creative Scotland is the public body that supports the arts, screen and creative industries across all parts of Scotland on behalf of everyone who lives, works or visits here.
We enable people and organisations to work in and experience the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland by helping others to develop great ideas and bring them to life.
We administer the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) which aims to create access to high-quality music making opportunities for young people and support the development of the youth music sector.
This year we received an uplift to the YMI budget which means that the overall budget it £10m for 2026/27. Local authorities across Scotland have started their YMI activity and and the awardees of the Youth Arts Open Fund administered by YouthLink Scotland will shortly be announced. Were in the process of assessing the applications to the Access to Music Making and Strengthening Youth Music Funds and we’ll be announcing the recipients in the new year.
