We asked Gus of Solas Sound the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Solas Sound is an independent recording studio in Glasgow, run by bassist, engineer and producer Gus Stirrat. For over ten years, we’ve helped artists bring their music to life in a relaxed, welcoming space, with a particular love for Scotland’s folk and traditional music.
Any particular career highlights?
Highlights include studio work with Blue Rose Code, Mànran, Gnoss, Joy Dunlop, Fergus McCreadie and corto.alto. It’s been a pleasure to help capture such a varied mix of Scottish music and build lasting relationships with the artists along the way.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep making great records with good people, build on the studio’s place in Scotland’s music community, and help both new and established artists create work they’re proud of.
