We asked Mairi Therese of Beinn Lee the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Formed in 2013, the band are rooted in the west coast style of traditional music. The collective inheritance of Gaelic song and west coast pipe music of members Micheal Steele, Pàdruig Morrison, Mairi Therese Gilfedder, James Stewart, Anna Black, and Seoras Lewis provide a very strong Gaelic traditional backbone to their music, but their music of contemporary and self-penned tunes and songs are infused with diverse modern influences.
Any particular career highlights?
Being part of the line up of Trail West Fest at SWG3 Galvanizers Yard was a real highlight this year as well as returning to play at Heb Celt Festival.
What are your plans for the future?
We’ve had a quieter year on the gig front whilst we focused on finishing writing and recording album number 3. We spent time in Black Bay studio in Bernera this summer; it’s such an incredible place to record. We are currently working towards releasing the album early next year and looking forward to getting back to lots of gigging and playing all our new material.
