November 3, 2025 By simon

Congratulations to Skerryvore who has been nominated in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2025. We asked Daniella of Skerryvore the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
Skerryvore XX – Live At Floors Castle was held on the 31st May 2025 as a celebration of our 20th Anniversary as a band. We wanted to do something a bit different and to choose a venue that would be really special and show off Scotland in it’s best light , especially for all of the international visitors that would be joining us, so choose this location due to the sheer beauty of the backdrop. After 20 years as a band, this event was incredibly special for us. To see so many people we have met over the past two decades come together as one big family was very moving.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
As a band, we all come from different musical and cultural backgrounds. Some of us grew up surrounded by traditional music from a very young age, others developing a love for the genre over time. We always try to find new ways to fuse the traditional elements with other contemporary influences and are extremely proud to be able to share the sounds of Scotland with audiences across the globe.

Any particular career highlights?
This event has to be the single biggest highlight of our career. A huge amount of time and planning went into making it happen, and then it’s all over in the blink of an eye, but the feeling of walking out on the stage to so many happy facers, and the sound of over 6,000 people signing along with us are memories that will never be forgotten.

What are your plans for the future?
Skerryvore XX was just the start of the Anniversary celebrations, and the beginning of a new chapter as we enter our third decade. It’s very hard to know what the future holds. If we had been told 20 years ago that we would be doing what we are doing now then we would never have believed it. We certainly don’t plan on slowing down any time soon, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
