We asked Scott of Assumption Studios the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Assumption Studios is Scotland’s latest commercial recording studio. Located in the West End of Glasgow, the facility hosts two large spaces, filled with a large array of analogue equipment, and a vast selection of instruments for limitless creative potential. Studio 1 accommodates a large enough space for orchestral recordings, and Studio 2 primarily focuses on bands/artists, with a speciality on creativity and experimentation within Scottish Music.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Studio 2 is primarily managed and operated by Scott Wood. His work as a Producer & Recording/Mixing Engineer flows between that, and a performing musician with the band ‘Skerryvore’. Adam Rhodes (Mec Lir, Imar) also works as producer/engineer within Studio 2, and has brought all of his Scottish Music expertise to facility.
Both producers have been heavily involved in the Scottish Music scene their whole lives, and are engrained within it as a way of life, as well as a career.
Any particular career highlights?
2025 has been very special first full year for Assumption Studios, working on some incredible new music with artists such as Skerryvore, Talisk, Chvrches, Project Smok, Astrobloc, Cala, Valtos, Elephant Sessions, Mec Lir, Bleed From Within, Tom Callister, Paul Buchanan, Léda, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Bullet for My Valentine & Falasgair. Every single day a fresh career highlight is born helping an artist find their authentic voice and sound.
What are your plans for the future?
We plan to maintain our characterful, inspiring and inclusive space for artists to reach their maximum potential. We’ll continue to invest in top of the range equipment, instruments and expertise over the coming years to help assist the writing and production of new music coming from Scotland.
We currently run an ‘Assumption Studios Charity’. Through this vessel, we financially help Scottish artists to create and develop their new art, and we would love to build this further for future generations coming through, to build up the scene as a whole.
Simply put, it’s all about the music!
