We asked Jamie of Teud – The Hebridean Fiddle Project the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
TEUD (meaning string in english) – The Hebridean Fiddle Project grew out of a conversation regarding the differing Hebridean fiddle styles and music throughout the Hebrides.

It's a collaboration between fiddlers; Claire Frances MacNeil from Barra, Shona Masson from Skye and myself, Jamie MacDonald, from Tiree. We all draw on the musical and cultural heritage of own islands in putting together our show which is a performance of Gaelic music and songs showcasing the ‘Hebridean fiddle style’.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
We have all been around and involved in music for a good number of years now working with other bands and projects. Meeting up at various sessions and festivals, and listening to other bands showcasing their own fiddle styles like the Shetlanders and the Irish, we had been talking about putting something together from a Hebridean perspective. This became Teud – The Hebridean Fiddle Project.

Any particular career highlights?
Our first tour of the Hebrides launching the project was a particular highlight playing on Barra, Tiree, Skye and South Uist. Celtic Connections last year and TMF and Hebcelt were also great fun and we're looking forward to seeing what comes next.

What are your plans for the future?
We have an EP coming soon and some exciting performances to announce. Keep an eye out for more info on our social media channels and website.
