We asked Jackie of Pure Scotch Ceilidh Band the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
Pure Scotch Ceilidh Band is a seven piece group which consists of lead accordion, harmony accordion, fiddle, double bass, keyboard, drums and dance caller who walks the floor.

The accordionists are all previous Scottish accordion champions and all band members have many years’ experience in the UK and further afield in performing, recording and broadcasting with the top Scottish dance bands.

Our style is swingy and upbeat, and our emphasis is focused on ensuring the dancers have great fun.

In addition to covering the more well known ceilidh dances, our caller also loves to introduce new ones – which always go down well

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
All band members have grown up together and have been involved in the Scottish music scene for many years as a result of their passion for this type of music.
Pure Scotch Ceilidh Band has been formed to keep alive the traditional six piece dance band format but played in a style which appeals to the modern day ceilidh

Any particular career highlights?
Every time we come away from a gig, irrespective of where it is, the highlight for us is having seen how much the dancers have enjoyed the variety of dances, their positive interaction with our caller and their appreciation of the depth of sound achieved by a six piece band

What are your plans for the future?
To keep a traditional six piece dance band relevant to the modern day ceilidh
