We asked Malin of Malin Lewis the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Malin, I'm a piper, fiddler and pipe-maker from Moidart and Skye. I make music inspired by nature, queerness, the universe and the unique instrument I play called the Lindsay System Chanter.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Our traditional music is raw and beautiful. I was always fascinated by the sound of the bagpipes which led me to start making them. It's my love of timbre that got me into Scottish folk and it's this obsession over the sound of the pipes that inspires so much of my work.
Any particular career highlights?
Touring and connecting with audiences through my music. Hearing peoples connections feelings and stories that they have made with the music is so incredible. I'm so grateful to have Halocline out in the world and set it free.
What are your plans for the future?
Develop more music and sounds for the Lindsay System Pipes, record my next album, swim outside more, tour more in Europe and continue to make music with my lovely band, Sally Simpson and Ali Hutton.
