We asked Colin of FRAS the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
FRAS have stormed their way through the West coast of Scotland and beyond with their iconic pipe heavy sound. A thundering four piece from na Garbh Chrìochan of box, flute, pipes and guitar. FRAS blend old melodies and original tunes to create a crashing wave of highland music. Tearing up dance floors in their wake and leaving audiences captivated.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Traditional music is part of who we are, we've always been surrounded by it. We unapologetically play the tunes we love in the style which is natural to us.
Any particular career highlights?
The release of our second album showcasing entirely original tunes, the publicity, tour and warmth of reception which has followed has undoubtedly been a highlight. Being nominated for this award is a real honour, we really appreciate our music being highlighted as worthy of recognition. Thanks!
What are your plans for the future?
If we could keep playing tunes we love for people who want to hear them we'd be delighted.
