We asked Eilidh of Fèis na Mara the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Fèis na Mara is a non-profit festival run by a small but dedicated group of volunteers. The two nights see around 300 like-minded people gather in a joyful celebration of the very best of Scottish bands & musicians in the beautiful & welcoming village of Arisaig.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Scottish music is synonymous with West Lochaber; widely taught here in the schools and embraced by all generations. There is a passion and love for Scottish music which seems to go hand in hand with the incredible beauty and wildness of the landscape here.
Any particular career highlights?
Fèis na Mara is a small festival but the quality of the performers has always been outstanding. Too many big names to mention but we always programme the event to be as inclusive as possible, and take pride in the fact that the festival is loved by people of all ages & all walks of life.
What are your plans for the future?
We plan to continue to bring top quality Scottish musicians to Arisaig for our weekend festival in October, as well as running fundraising events throughout the rest of the year. We work hard to ensure that the festival is self-sufficient and that ticket prices remain affordable for all.
