We asked Alec of Alec Dalglish the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Alec Dalglish is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer from Livingston, West Lothian. Primarily known as the singer and songwriter for folk-rock band, Skerryvore. For the past 23 years he has toured extensively around the UK, USA, Europe and beyond.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
I first became involved in the Scottish music scene after meeting my current bandmates, Daniel & Martin Gillespie. I was never exposed to the scene as a young musician in Livingston but immediately fell in love with the music, the musicians and the craic that surrounded the whole scene. It's such a vibrant and fertile sector of the music industry and I love being part of a scene that showcases our Scottish heritage all over the world.
Any particular career highlights?
There have been many career highlights over the years but a few include Skerryvore's 10th anniversary performance at Mossfield Park in Oban; having all of the singles from the last album 'Tempus' playlisted by BBC Radio 2 and most recently having my song 'Take My Hand' selected as part of the finale of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle.
What are your plans for the future?
I'm currently writing and recording a new album with Skerryvore to coincide with our 20th anniversary as a band. We are about to embark on a tour of Europe and in December we'll be doing our annual winter tour around some of Scotland's greatest venues. I'm very excited to be organising plans for our 20th anniversary celebrations in what will be the biggest Skerryvore show to date.
