We asked Daniel of SKERRYVORE the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Three time winners of Scotland’s ‘Live Act of the Year’ award, Skerryvore have evolved from their humble beginnings to become one of the country’s leading forces in a thriving live music scene. At the forefront of a movement that has reinvented and reignited a traditional Scottish scene for a modern, multicultural audience, the band have brought their high energy performances to audiences across the globe. From their early days in Scottish West Coast halls and bars, to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe, Skerryvore’s wide range of influences and talent produce a musically expansive, immersive yet intimate set that excites and captivates audiences.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Scottish traditional music has been at the roots of the band since the very first meeting of the band members on the island of Tiree and has remained with us throughout our 18 year journey. We are proud to be part of the Scottish music scene and proud to promote our music and culture globally.
Any particular career highlights?
Achieving our first ever No.1 album in the Official Charts with Tempus was a moment we'll always remember. Playing the opening track to 67,000 at Murrayfield was also a very special highlight.
What are your plans for the future?
We have our biggest ever North American Tour in 2024 as well as some very exciting shows at home, including our first headline performance in Glasgow's iconic Royal Concert Hall as part of Celtic Connections.
2025 will mark 20 years of Skerryvore so we have some exciting plans already underway for that…
