We asked Pearse of LOOM Graphics the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
We’ve been creating high end graphics for a variety of clients across many sectors for nearly 5 years at our studio in Stornoway.
We have recently furrowed a line in album and tour artwork for some amazing musicians including Peat & Diesel, Dàimh, Joy Dunlop and Skipinnish.
Our main aim when working in the Trad Music sector is to go against the usual tropes of the genre, creating refreshing perspectives while also bringing through the essence of the artist.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
It’s an amazingly vibrant sector. Loads of diverse artists with challenging briefs. We love pushing the the expectations of the genre.
Any particular career highlights?
We were commissioned to design the cover for a local band that we presumed wouldn’t make it past playing the pubs of Stornoway. Many years later it’s a joy to see the cover Peat & Diesel’s ‘Uptown Fank’ become a cultural icon of the Island and beyond.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep helping talented musicians with their visual style.
