We asked Graham of Gnoss the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
We are a four-piece folk band made up of Aidan Moodie (Guitar & Vocals), Connor Sinclair (Flute, Whistles & Vocals), Craig Baxter (Bodhran & Stomp) and Graham Rorie (Fiddle & Electric Tenor Guitar). Our music is made up of mostly self-penned tunes and folk songs.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
We all started learning our respective instruments quite young. Connor and Craig started off with their local pipe bands before moving on to compete with Grade 1 bands. Aidan and Graham both took advantage of the rich musical heritage in Orkney before moving south. We all met at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying traditional music.
Any particular career highlights?
We’re very fortunate to be able to take our music to some amazing places both closer to home and abroad. Particular highlights came this year through the Cambridge Folk Festival and Tønder Festival.
What are your plans for the future?
2023 has been a great year with the release of our third studio album ‘Stretching Skyward’ and touring it all over. There are exciting plans in place for 2024 including our first band visit to Australia and some exciting collaboration projects in the pipeline.
