MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2021: Gnoss

November 2, 2021 By simon

Congratulations to Gnoss who have been nominated in Album of the Year sponsored by Birnam CD in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2021. Vote here! Vote now!

We asked Graham Rorie of Gnoss the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
We are a four-piece folk band made up of Aidan Moodie (Guitar & Vocals), Connor Sinclair (Flute, Whistes & Vocals), Craig Baxter (Bodhran & Stomp) and Graham Rorie (Fiddle, Mandolin & Electric Tenor Guitar). Our music is made up of mostly self-penned tunes and folk songs.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
We've all been involved in Scottish music from a young age. Aidan and Graham grew up in Orkney playing folk music in a range of bands at school. Connor and Craig both grew up playing in pipe bands, starting off with their local bands before competing with Grade 1 bands.

We all met at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying traditional music.

Any particular career highlights?
We've been lucky enough to play some amazing shows in stunning places. Particular highlights would be our trips to Festival Interceltique de Lorient (France) and Celtic Valle d'Aosta (Italy).

What are your plans for the future?
We can't wait to get back to more touring, it's been brilliant getting back to gigging this summer and have some exciting plans to take our latest album 'The Light of The Moon' out on the road in 2022.
