Any more information you would like to tell us?

The word ‘dlùth’ from which the band name is derived, has several meanings, one of which is ‘close to’.
Through the making of this album, we became ‘Close to’ finding our new sound and direction. From the moment we began writing in October 2022, we started to develop a shared vision of what we wanted to do musically. With our debut album, ‘Moch’, we were still experimenting a lot, and many of the tracks have sets of two or three tunes, and switch between multiple feels, melodies and ideas within one track. After we finished this album, we had a chat with our producer, Pete Fletcher, about how we wanted to progress musically, and he had suggested taking inspiration from the structure you find in dance music tracks. With this album we wanted to try exploring how we could streamline our ideas, so we take one melody and run with that, changing the arrangement around it, and sometimes there is no ‘melody’ at all. Although we still explore different ideas, there is more unity in each individual track, and sometimes there are small ideas that recur in different tracks. Sonically, there is quite a change from the sound of the first album, which is also pushed further by the addition of synths, courtesy of the inimitable Duncan Lyall, and of course with the Pete’s vision in production.
‘Close to’ has multiple meanings for us at this stage in our lives. We are close to each other – during the course of writing this album we have become closer as a group of friends, especially to Seòras who came into an already tight-knit group, which isn’t easy, and slotted right in.
Tha sinn cuideachd ‘dlùth ris’ a’ Ghàidhlig. Tha dà òran Ghàidhlig air a’ chlàr seo: A Mhic Iain ’ic Sheumais agus Mogaisean (Òran nam Mogaisean). Bha e cudromach dhuinn òrain a sgrìobhadh a chòrdadh ri Gàidheil òga. Dh’fhàs sinne suas ag èisteachd ri seinneadairean is còmhlain a leithid Julie Fowlis, Rachel Walker agus Mànran, agus a’ cur luach air an dòigh anns am biodh luchd-chiùil mar Martyn Bennett agus an uair sin Niteworks a’ cleachdadh òran Ghàidhlig airson rudeigin gu tur ùr agus eadar-dhealaichte a chruthachadh, ach fhathast a’ toirt urram dhan dualchas. Tha sinn air ar tionndadh fhèin a chur air an dà òran seo agus gu deimhinne bidh tuilleadh ri thighinn.
