Strands is an exploration of melodies both old and new from Shetland, Scandinavia, mainland Scotland and Ireland. The album is composed of original arrangements of tunes ranging from auld traditional wedding tunes to contemporary jigs and reels, featuring moments of improvisation and groove along the way. The record includes full ensemble tracks (piano, guitar, double bass and bodhrán), alongside duo (piano and guitar) and solo piano numbers.
