The 2026 Scots Language Awards tak place on Saturday 19th September at the iconic Discovery Centre, home of the RRS Discovery Ship (1pm). Reserve yer ticket here.
The awards will be a daytime event this year, making them as inclusive and accessible to as many award nominees from across Scotland as possible.

Doric Bootcamp is a weekend workshoppie far awbdy can learn tae spek North-East Scots. It’s been gaen fir three years e noo an a third edition wis expanded tae last three days fae Friday efterneen tae Monday at midday. We hid fower teachers daein games, teachin vocabulary an even Doric grammar an fowk were also led tae dae a piece o scrievin. At nicht we hid performances o bothy ballads an poetry. We also hid a session o Doric yoga an e Doric kirk service, apparently e first in e toon. It wis attended by mair than 50 fowk. We were fair tricket wi e variety o fowk fa cam alang, fowk fa spoke e leid as bairns an forgot it as weel as total beginners. We even hid fowk come aw e wye fae Germany an Spain. Awbdy wis fair tricket.
Whit wis it got ye involvit wi the Scots leid?
Originally fae Germany Ah love learnin leids, but havin learned Gaelic there wis nae place far I could ging tae learn Scots in an intensive course that’s nae at university. Sae I decided tae put on e Doric Bootcamp as Ah thocht there’d be ithers feelin e same wye.
Why dae ye feel it is important tae use Scots in everyday life?
Ilka leid his a different view o e warld. Gin ye loose e leid ye also loose muckle o e culture. Use it or loose it.
