MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards: Burns Brothers Ceilidh Band

We asked George Burns of Burns Brothers Ceilidh Band the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
The Burns Brothers Ceilidh Band Accreditations:
• John was the Scottish accordion champion in 1999
• John and George have both won the Oban individual accordion championship
• Both John and George have won several championships for their own musical compositions
• John and George won the Will Starr memorial trophy several years ago playing as a duo.
• The band has played on several occasions for B.B.C. Radio Scotland’s “Take the floor”
•The Band have played as guests at the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival on several occasions.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Playing in our Ceilidh band gives us the opportunity let others hear the music we love.

Any particular career highlights?
Playing as a dance band on “Take the floor”
Playing in New York

What are your plans for the future?
To keep Scottish Dance Music alive by letting as many people as possible hear out Band.
