MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2016: Mànran

November 1, 2016 By simon

Mu00e0nran-Press-5Congratulations to Mànran who have been nominated in Live Act of the Year sponsored by Greentrax Recordings in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2016. Vote now!

We asked Gary Innes of Mànran the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
We are a group of six lads having a blast trying to take our own brand of traditional contemporary music across the globe.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
We are involved in Scottish music because there surely can't be any better job in the world. Getting to play music that inspires you and the generations before, while also getting the opportunity to travel and make new musical friendships that will last a lifetime. Why wouldn't everyone want to do that?

Any particular career highlights?
Career highlights for us have to include various tours of America and Australia including winning Australia's International Artist of the year in 2014 and closer to home, performances at Glastonbury, Runrig's 40th Anniversary concert and being the only band of the 21st century to get a Gaelic song in the UK top 40, well for a few days at least.

What are your plans for the future?
We have just finished recording our 3rd album, An Dà Là/The Two Days, which we are excited to launch at Celtic Connections this coming January back in the famous Glasgow Barrowlands. As a band 2016 has been our most successful year to date and 2017 is shaping up to be just as busy and special.
