MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2016: Mairi Campbell – Pulse

November 1, 2016 By simon

Mairi-Pic-Seven-songsCongratulations to Mairi Campbell – Pulse who have been nominated in Event of the Year sponsored by Visit Scotland in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2016. Vote now!

We asked Mairi Campbell of Mairi Campbell – Pulse the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
I am a violist, singer, mover and maker of sound, theatre and community.

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Because I love the community, the rootedness of it, knowing the people behind the tunes and tunes themselves, with all their energy, drive, bite and tenderness.

Any particular career highlights?
Singing Auld Lang Syne live to President Clinton, Sean Connery, Sarah Jessica Parker, Stevie Wonder, Catherine Zeta Jones and Walter Kronkite. The greenroom was nuts.

Playing Pulse at Lismore community hall a few days ago.

What are your plans for the future?
I hope to have a busy 2017/18 with Pulse, I’m keen to play it up and down Scotland from village halls to theatres throughout the country and beyond. Solo concerts are also fantastic fun and I’ll continue playing with the Occasionals dance band. Life is good.
