November 1, 2016 By simon

We asked Innes White of Innes White the following questions.

Tell us about yourself
I'm a guitar and mandolin player from the Highlands. At the moment I'm playing with loads of different folk, and learning lots of new music which always gives me a buzz. I've been fortunate to get to work with brilliant musicians throughout my career and have had amazing teachers, too many in fact to name here!
This year I've been mostly gigging as part of John McCusker and Karen Matheson's respective bands and in previous years had the great pleasure of playing mostly with Mischa Macpherson's trio. I have also been doing lots of recording, most recently for Heidi Talbot's new release which I had a lot of fun playing on.

I also love food!

Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Because it's great! There's so much exciting stuff happening in Scotland's music scene at the moment and I'm always excited to hear what the next thing will be. I grew up with it and will always love it. Having a family full of musicians made this almost inevitable! I was also fortunate to have Feis Rois on my doorstep having grown up in Dingwall. The whole team there do an amazing job at inspiring folk to play and learn Scottish music and I benefitted hugely from what they do.

Any particular career highlights?
I have been incredibly lucky in my career so far and there are so many highlights to choose from. A recent highlight was getting to play at the Royal Albert Hall with the John McCusker band earlier this year, which was almost overwhelming but a great thrill. The fact that I get to play music as my job will always be the biggest highlight though!

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to keep playing music as well as I can for as long as I can!
