Hailing from the ‘wild wild’ Western Isles of Scotland, Trail West are a young band causing a storm on the Scottish music scene.
Formed on the tiny Isle of Tiree in 2008 by founding members Ian Smith (Accordion/ Vocals) and Andrew Findlater (Drums/ Vocals), the band has since added further Hebridean fire power with multi-instrumentalist Seonaidh MacIntyre (Whistles/ Bagpipes/ Tromb/ Vocals) from South Uist and fellow Tirisdeach Alain Campbell (Guitar/ Bagpipes/ Vocals) to create a blistering sound that presents an exciting twist on the traditional ‘west coast’ ceilidh band style.
A Trail West gig is guaranteed great ‘craic’ and this has led to the band building a loyal following throughout Scotland as well as securing performances at key events such as the Cowal Highland Gathering, the Royal National Mod, Tiree Music Festival and Glasgow’s Shindig in the Square.
The band’s highly anticipated debut album ‘One That Got Away’ will be accompanied by a UK Summer Tour before the band head for their European debut in Germany in September.
In creating this debut album Trail West have captured the energy and enthusiasm that has seen their fan base grow rapidly throughout the last 12 months. Recorded on the scenic banks of Loch Fyne at ‘The Cottage Residential Music Studio’ only adds to the bands powerful West Coast sound. From the driving sounds of the Highland Bagpipes and accordion to the intimacy of Gaelic song ‘A ‘Pheigi A Ghraidh’, Trail West have managed to produce a special blend of what makes the traditional music scene so magical.
“This CD is guaranteed to put all who listen to it in the mood for parties and drams! Dangerously good! Great band and a fantastic CD!”
