  7. The Paul McKenna band performed a house concert for up us on Vancouver Island. They were wonderful representatives of Trad music. Mike Vass taught a fiddle class with two of his own tunes. He is a fabulous teacher and the tunes are fresh yet traditional. Good luck to these talented musicians and to the event for sustaining a cultural tradition

  43. Just been to a house concert where Rona Wilkie was playing along with Marit Falt Absolutely outstanding. The tunes and songs Rona has written are transporting. Looking forward to the album next year.

  48. What a great set of nominees. I am especially rooting for our beloved Aberdeen Folk Club now celebrating its 50th year, the brilliant Stonehaven Folk Festival, and fab singer Christine Kydd who has often played at both. Good luck to all of you.

  54. I wish Deoch n Dorus all the very best in this category. They are an extremely good Scottish Dance Band and when they play at the Glasgow Jura Association Annual Gathering they are both entertaining and good humoured. All the best .

    I love treacherous orchestra. Seen them live in Nottingham. Fantastic live.

  70. Very happy to recommend Fiona J Mackenzie ..she is an inspiration and has such energy and passion to promote gaelic song, history and tradition especially now in small communities to ensure that this heritage continues to flourish.

  71. I can wholeheartedly recommend Peter Morrison in the composer category. A truly top composer and he would be a worthy winner.

  72. My vote went to Dallahan, but my best wishes also go out to all the entrants. Scots Traditional Music is very much to be encouraged and it is pleasing to see such a high standard of music making across the board.

  73. Please vote Fiona J MacKenzie in the Gaelic singer category. She’s an amazing singer songwriter and has helped many including myself learn about Gaelic song and singing technique.

  74. Shooglenifty ‘The Untied Knot’ – what more can I say? Now that I’ve realise that the form wasn’t responsive and I was not just choosing between ‘it’s not for me’ and ‘it’s ok’ all has become clear. 😉

  75. Hands down, Mairi Campbell for best instrumentalist! Mairi and her husband, David Francis bring their incredible sound to Canada every few years and we are blessed if lucky enough to attend! She’s a class act with a twinkle in her eye!!!!
