We asked Claire of Claire Hastings the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
I am a folksinger/songwriter and ukulele player originally from Dumfries.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Growing up in Dumfries and Galloway I was heavily influenced by the works of Robert Burns, which led to a passion for Scottish music. I have always felt more of a connection with folk music above all other genres due to the stories, history and incredible talent we have in Scotland!
Any particular career highlights?
Winning BBC's Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2015 was absolutely a highlight, as well as singing Auld Lang Syne for BBC's Hogmanay 2021. Two of my childhood dreams come true!
What are your plans for the future?
I am due my 2nd baby on the 29th December so things in my personal life are going to be fairly busy for the next wee while! However I am looking forward to getting back into gigs and teaching in 2024.
