We asked Davie of Tartan Tunes the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
Tartan Tunes is the catalyst for the weekly Scottish Session which is broadcast live from both Dundee & Shetland, as well as wherever in the world our guests are. We bring established, and up-and-coming artists to a new audience, showing the people behind the music. To date we have had 188 guests, racking up around 200 hours of chat, tunes, and craic.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
Scottish music has always been in both myself and Peter's lives from a very young age. Be it playing, listening, writing or talking about it. Tartan Tunes has allowed us to speak to with some of the best in the business, and in some cases, call them friends.
Any particular career highlights?
Our nomination in 2021 was definitely up there, as well as being able to actually meet (myself and Peter) for the very first time in Braemar at the tail end of 2021.
What are your plans for the future?
We plan to continue to interview the best in the business, promote young traditional musicians, and hopefully do something in person with an audience one day…think Jools Holland, but with accordion and bagpipes.
