Farewell Tae The Haven by Davy Steele (with Ceolbeg)

November 5, 2014 By simon

374-Ceolbeg-800x793The late Davy Steele was a remarkable singer and prolific songwriter and ‘Farewell Tae The Haven’ is arguably one of Davy’s greatest songs. The track was originally on the Ceolbeg album ‘Not The Bunny Hop’ (deleted) and was a must when tracks were being selected for Ceolbeg ‘Collected’. The song is from Davy’s home town of Prestonpans
and about the decline in the fishing trade in Scotland, which resulted in Morrison’s Haven in Prestonpans falling into disuse and eventually being filled. A classic track.
