The Doric Film Festival, now in it's fifth year, is a unique event which highlights the Doric language and culture through the medium of film, giving budding film makers an opportunity to show-case their talent using new up-to-date technology.
The 2024 Doric Film Festival culminated on June 14th with a showcase of submissions – five minute films on the theme: “Fit Wye Nae.” The chosen films were shown via a magical 'Video Wall' and beamed across to a packed audience in the amphi-theatre at Robert Gordon University.
The acclaimed Doric Film Festival, which is supported by the Scottish Government, and a team of loyal supporters, is a Scots Radio project, directed by award-winning Scots Radio Director Frieda Morrison who was presented with the Janet Paisley Award for Services to the Scots Language at Scotland’s Trad Awards 2023.
Frieda Morrison said: “Every year we receive exciting and creative ideas from entrants, and these serve to remind us of the rich and diverse cultural landscape of the North east.
“From schoolchildren to seasoned film makers, the Doric Film Festival is a much-anticipated event which draws together entrants of all ages with the common goal of celebrating our language with vigour and enthusiasm.”
