Tell us aboot yersel or yer ootfit.
Eh'm a teacher at St. Andra's PS in Dundee. Been daein it for a guid while noo, and love tae speak and read in Scots wi the bairns. Find it's a guid way to get bairns interested in scrievin and speakin aboot things that they like, and tae build confidence in yasin' language. Maks them proud o' wha they are and whar they come fae.
Whit wis it got ye involvit wi the Scots leid?
Bein fae Dundee masel eh've aye been interested in how fowks speak, an' accents and dialects an' stuff. Mibbe fae readin' Oor Wullie an' The Broons when eh wis a wee laddie? Bein interested in Scots history tae, an seein how language an' identity can be a powerful force for good. An' of course there's just some magic words.
Ony particlar career heighlichts
Been lucky enough tae work wi some braw fowk including Matthew Fitt and Sheena Wellington, helping bairns learn aboot the Scots leid through stories, poems and sangs. Gettin' some bairns tae dress up as The Proclaimers and belt oot 'I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)' on stage sticks in the memory!
Wha’s yer plans fir the days aheid?
Just tak it 'ane day at a time'. An' (bein' a Dundee United fan) try no tae think aboot the fitba too much!
