Hello!
I'm Amanda and have been teaching for 8 years. I absolutely love my job and truely believe that the relationships I make with kids make a huge impact to their lives. I am an Ayrshire lassie, and very proud of it! I am also a Mum to the most funniest wee lad called Jack, spend most of my free time reading, and love bagging hills and Munros.
Whit wis it got ye involvit wi the Scots leid?
Growing up we were always encouraged to 'speak properly' and I just couldn't! This was my voice and I like using it. I remember coming across Irvine Welsh as a teenager and reading his stuff thinking 'this sounds like me'; now I do what I can to immerse myself in Scots lit and do what I can to bring it into my classroom!
Ony particlar career heighlichts
I fully believe that that school I teach in survives on strong community bonds, and the fact I live and teach in the same community has allowed me to make very strong relationships with my pupils and parents. Having parents and pupils come to me for help has made my career worth every single minute of stress.
Wha’s yer plans fir the days aheid?
Work aww day, parent aww night! Haha, nahh in reality I am currently organising my son's birthday party and planning to revamp my school's library!
